Terms of Service
The plain-language terms for booking and receiving tech help from Tech Help With Q.
Effective date: July 1, 2026
The Short Version
I offer patient, in-home and remote tech help, plus group workshops, for seniors in Calgary and nearby communities. Sessions are booked through Calendly. I accept Cash, Cheque, or INTERAC e-Transfer, and there’s a $25 fee for cancellations made within 24 hours of your appointment. I’ll always do my best to help, but I can’t guarantee that every issue gets fixed. Some problems are outside anyone’s control. This page covers the practical details; if anything here doesn’t make sense, just ask me.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
By using this website, booking a session, or working with me (Q, operating as Tech Help With Q, “I,” “me,” “my”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If something here doesn’t sit right with you, please reach out before booking so we can talk it through.
2. What Tech Help With Q Offers
I provide one-on-one, patient tech help for seniors, including:
- In-home and remote tech support in Calgary and surrounding communities (Airdrie, Cochrane, Chestermere, Okotoks, and nearby areas)
- Help with smartphones, tablets, computers, email, video calls, smart home devices, online safety, and AI tools
- Group workshops for senior centres, libraries, and community groups, including “AI for Everyday Life” and “Detecting & Avoiding Online Scams”
Every session is tailored to what you need. There’s no fixed script, and no question is too small.
3. Booking and Scheduling
Sessions and workshops are booked through Calendly. Weekday appointments are generally available between 5 and 8 PM, since I also work full time in cybersecurity during business hours; this lets me give every appointment my full attention without rushing. If you’re not sure what you need, you can book a free 15-minute call first to chat it through.
4. Pricing and Payment
I aim to keep pricing simple and transparent, with no surprise fees:
- In-home tech help (Calgary): $75 + GST for the first hour, $60 + GST for each additional hour
- Surrounding communities (Airdrie, Cochrane, Chestermere, Okotoks, and nearby areas): $75 + $25 travel + GST for the first hour, $60 + GST for each additional hour
- Group workshops: $160 + GST for a 60 to 90 minute session, designed for groups of 8 to 15 (larger groups welcome, just ask)
- First-time clients: your first 1-hour visit is discounted to $60 + GST
- Ongoing support: purchase 5 or more hours upfront and the rate drops to $60 per hour
I accept Cash, Cheque, and INTERAC e-Transfer. After each session, I’ll send you a clear invoice with payment details. Payment is due at the time of service unless we’ve agreed otherwise.
5. Cancellations and Rescheduling
Plans change, and that’s okay. Just let me know as soon as you can. A $25 cancellation fee applies to cancellations made within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment. This helps me keep appointment times available and fair for everyone. Rescheduling with more than 24 hours’ notice is always free.
6. No Guarantee of Specific Outcomes
I bring patience, care, and real technical experience to every session, and I’ll always do my best to solve the problem in front of us. That said, technology doesn’t always cooperate. Some issues are outside anyone’s control, such as hardware failure, third-party service outages, or manufacturer restrictions. I can’t guarantee that every issue will be fully resolved in a single session, or at all, but I will always be upfront with you about what’s possible and what isn’t.
You’re responsible for backing up anything important, like photos, documents, and contacts, before a session where data loss is a realistic risk. I’ll flag this when it’s relevant, but the backup itself is on you.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Tech Help With Q is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from tech help sessions or use of this website, including data loss, missed appointments, or costs related to third-party hardware or software issues. Nothing in this section limits liability that can’t be excluded under Alberta law.
8. Third-Party Services
This website and my booking process rely on a few outside services:
- Netlify hosts this website.
- Web3Forms delivers contact form submissions to me.
- Calendly powers all scheduling and booking.
Each of these has its own terms of service, separate from mine, governing how their part of the process works.
9. Intellectual Property
The content, design, and branding of this website belong to Tech Help With Q. You’re welcome to browse and share links to this site. Please don’t copy or republish the content elsewhere without asking first.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply within it. Any disputes will be handled under Alberta law, but honestly, my hope is we’d just talk it out first.
11. Changes to These Terms
I may update these terms from time to time as my services evolve. Changes take effect once posted here, with an updated “Effective date” above.
