Privacy Policy
How Tech Help With Q collects, uses, and protects your information, in plain language.
Effective date: July 1, 2026
The Short Version
When you fill out my contact form, I get your name, email, and message (and your phone number, if you choose to share it). I use it to reply to you. That’s it. When you book a call or session, that happens on Calendly’s platform, under Calendly’s own privacy policy. I don’t run ads, I don’t use analytics or tracking cookies, and I don’t sell or share your information with anyone. My fonts are hosted right here on this site, not pulled from Google, so there’s no extra tracking happening just from loading a page.
1. Who I Am
Tech Help With Q is a Calgary, Alberta-based tech support business, run by me (Q), helping seniors in Calgary and the surrounding communities get comfortable and confident with their devices, in-home, remotely, and through community workshops. This policy explains what information I collect through this website (techhelpwithq.ca), how I use it, and how you can reach me with questions.
2. Information I Collect
What you give me directly
The only place this website asks you for information is the contact form. When you submit it, I receive:
- Your name
- Your email address, so I can reply to you
- Your phone number (optional, only if you choose to include it)
- How you heard about Tech Help With Q: a simple dropdown (friend or family, online search, social media, community event, or other)
- Your message: whatever you tell me about how I can help
That’s the complete list. There are no user accounts, logins, or hidden fields on this site.
What’s collected automatically
This website is hosted by Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify’s infrastructure automatically logs basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. This is used for security and site reliability. I don’t have access to detailed visitor tracking, and I don’t use this information to identify or profile individual visitors.
3. How I Use Your Information
I use the information you send through the contact form for exactly one purpose: to respond to your message and help you with whatever you reached out about. I don’t use it for marketing lists, I don’t share it with advertisers, and I don’t use it to build a profile of you.
4. Third Parties I Work With
I keep this list short on purpose:
- Netlify: hosts this website. Netlify has its own privacy policy covering how it handles this data.
- Web3Forms: delivers contact form submissions to me (this is how your message reaches me). Web3Forms has its own privacy policy covering how it handles this data.
- Calendly: powers the “Book a session” links you see on this site. When you click through to book a call, session, or workshop, you’re taken to Calendly’s platform, and that booking is governed by Calendly’s own privacy policy. Calendly may set its own cookies once you visit their site to book. That’s outside of my control.
I don’t share your information with anyone beyond these service providers, and I never sell your information. Full stop.
5. Cookies and Tracking
I keep this simple, especially for a site built for people who’d rather not think about cookie banners:
- No analytics. I don’t use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any similar tool to track who visits this site.
- No advertising. I don’t run ads, and there are no advertising or retargeting cookies here.
- Self-hosted fonts. The fonts on this site live on my own server, not on Google Fonts or any other third-party font service. Simply loading a page doesn’t send your information anywhere else.
- Calendly isn’t embedded on this site — booking links simply take you to Calendly’s own website (see Section 4), where Calendly may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.
6. How Long I Keep Your Information
I keep contact form messages and email correspondence only as long as I need them to help you: generally no more than 24 months, unless we’ve built an ongoing working relationship, in which case I keep what’s needed to serve you well. Server logs held by Netlify are kept only briefly, for security purposes. You can ask me to delete your information at any time (see Section 8).
7. How I Protect Your Information
This website is served over HTTPS, so anything you send through the contact form is encrypted in transit. I also keep a strict security policy on this site that limits it to loading scripts only from this domain. Nothing else gets to run on this page.
8. Your Rights
As a small business operating in Alberta, I follow Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and Canada’s federal privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), where it applies. In plain terms, you have the right to:
- Ask what I have. Request a copy of any personal information I hold about you.
- Ask me to fix it. Correct anything that’s inaccurate or out of date.
- Ask me to delete it. I’ll remove your information unless I have a legitimate reason to keep it (like an unpaid invoice).
- Ask questions. I’m happy to explain exactly what I do with your information, in plain language, any time.
To exercise any of these, just email me (see Section 11). If you ever feel your concern hasn’t been addressed, you can also contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
9. Children’s Privacy
Tech Help With Q is built for adults, primarily seniors. This site does not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the contact form is not intended for use by minors.
10. Changes to This Policy
If I update how this site handles your information, I’ll update this page and change the “Effective date” above. I don’t expect this policy to change often. My approach to your privacy is pretty simple, and I intend to keep it that way.
11. Contact Me
Questions about your privacy, or want me to update or delete your information? Just reach out.
Email: hi@techhelpwithq.ca
I aim to reply within a few business days, usually much sooner.
